The part of the fertility journey nobody talks about
The moment you are told that having a child will not come naturally is one of the most heartbreaking, world-changing, gut-wrenching moments of your life.
And then the journey begins.
The appointments. The medications. The procedures. The waiting. The hoping. The trying again. You show up to every scan, follow every protocol, do everything you are told. You become an expert in your own body in ways you never expected to be.
But underneath all of it - underneath every result, every phone call, every cycle - there is something that nobody talks about.
The emotional weight of it.
What the journey actually becomes
Almost immediately, it becomes your whole life. The research. The choosing the right clinic. The needles. The injections. The retrievals. The transfers. This is your life now.
And it feels like your identity - because it is so consuming.
On top of all of it, we blame ourselves. Our bodies. Our biological clocks. Our timing. We question our worthiness. We carry fears and doubts we don't even name out loud. Is it my body? Did I do something wrong? Should I have tried sooner? Should I have changed something?
We pour everything into finding the medical answer. The next protocol. The next opinion. The next thing we can control.
And underneath all of that striving - the biological clock, the family expectations, the social media, the pregnancy announcements, the feeling that every month matters and that slowing down means falling behind - we keep pushing our own emotions aside.
Because there isn't time for them. Because stopping feels like losing.
What nobody tells you about pain
I remember feeling like I couldn't waste any time. I was constantly thinking about the next appointment, the next cycle, the next transfer.
But here is what I've come to understand: pausing isn't falling behind. Sometimes it's what allows you to continue - with more strength, more clarity, and more of yourself intact.
Because pain accumulates. It doesn't reset at each procedure. It only adds up - quietly, invisibly, underneath every cycle you put your body through.
And your fertility journey is not a reflection of your worth, your effort, or how deserving you are of becoming a parent.
The question that changed everything
I know this feeling intimately - because I have been through a long-term IVF journey myself. Multiple egg retrievals, embryo transfers, surgeries, and years of hoping, waiting, and trying again.
The turning point came when someone asked me a question I had never thought to ask myself: were there emotional aspects of myself that I hadn't addressed?
I had never even considered it.
So I began to look inward. At the fears I had buried. At the patterns I hadn't fully recognised. At the things I was carrying without even realising it. And when I finally dedicated time to reflect, process, and truly go inward - it completely changed my journey.
Fertility is not only physical. It has emotional factors too. And those factors deserve just as much attention as any protocol or procedure.
It wasn't about blaming the past. It was about seeing what I had been carrying - and finally setting some of it down.
Why I built this retreat
Every moment of our infertility retreat has been shaped by what I wish had existed during my own journey. A space to finally address the part of this journey that goes unspoken. To look inward, with support. To set down what you've been carrying. To be reminded that you are not behind, not broken, and not alone.
This is for you if you are ready to reshape your fertility journey - not just physically, but in every way that matters.
